Unfiltered notes from traders using TradeStop in the wild.
"Before TradeStop I’d blow up sim accounts by lunch. Phone in class - TradingView - ‘one more micro’. Now I set my window to 9:00-11:00 am only. The mid-session lock and that 5-minute ‘cool-off’ killed most of the urges. I went from about 14 trades a day to 4, and I’ve had just 2 red days in three weeks."
"My problem wasn’t entries, it was checking positions every hour and ‘just adding a little’. I made a 1:30-3:00 pm session after dinner and that’s it. I’ve hit the manual override twice, both times the 5-minute wait talked me out of it. No revenge adds this month, and I actually sleep well.”
"Before TradeStop I’d sneak ‘one more scalp’ at lunch and give back the morning. Now my sessions are 9:30–10:30 and that’s it - broker cuts off outside that window. If I hit the manual unlock, the 5-minute delay makes me rethink it, most times I cancel. My journal shows fewer trades, better R:R, and way less stress."
“Remote work made it too easy to ‘scalp at lunch’. With TradeStop on, my broker simply doesn’t connect outside my session, the watchlist still opens so I can plan. I’ve tried the override once and cancelled during the wait. My P&L isn’t fireworks, it’s finally a steady line.”
"I’m a solid trader at 10:00 a.m. and a reckless one at 3:00 p.m. TradeStop let me draw a hard line - my setup stays read-only at noon and after 2:30. Charts open, order buttons asleep. The ‘write a reason + short wait’ prompt prevented me two revenge trades this week. The curve’s smoother, but the real win is I’m not bargaining with myself anymore."
“One red trade is my danger zone. Old me would try to ‘win it back’ and dig a deeper hole. Now, the second I feel tilt, I hit Block Now in TradeStop. Charts stay open, but orders don’t. More than once I’ve checked the replay and seen I would’ve taken 2–3 revenge trades. Instead, I’m flat until the next session. Fewer spirals, smaller drawdowns, better sleep.”
We don’t kill TradingView charts. We cut broker access. During a blocked period we deny connections to broker domains/IPs and common bridge apps/endpoints (via Windows Firewall + hosts/DNS rules). Result: you can still analyze, but order routes (logins/placing/cancelling orders) won’t connect.
TradeStop blocks order routing by targeting the broker’s login/gateway domains and IPs—no API keys required. We ship with vetted presets for the most common futures/FX brokers, including: Tradovate, TradeStation, InteractiveBrokers, Binance, NinjaTrader, AMP Futures, Plus500, WeBull.
Want another broker supported? Email us at support@letstradestop.com with the broker/platform name. We’ll verify the endpoints and add it for you as fast as possible.
Yes - 1 manual unblock per day, with a 5-minute delay and a required written reason (to curb impulses). You can cancel during the countdown. You can also hit "Block now" mid-session to shut down broker access for the rest of the session if you feel discipline slipping.
No. Safety rails: one daily manual override. Uninstalling TradeStop cleanly restores firewall/hosts changes.
Blocks persist across restarts. Rules live at the OS level, so killing the app won’t restore broker access. Reopen TradeStop to manage/adjust sessions or rules.
TradeStop enforces blocks on the Windows PC where it’s installed. Phones and other PCs aren’t affected. If you can still place orders from a different device, you can bypass the guardrails. Mobile companion is on our roadmap to extend blocks to phones.
We never request your broker or TradingView logins, API keys, or passwords. Cloud data: your TradeStop account email, subscription status, device ID, your session schedules, and minimal event logs (e.g., when an override countdown started/was canceled/used). No browsing history, no order data. Local data: configuration and cached rules on your PC. Everything is encrypted in transit and at rest. You can delete your account to purge cloud data. Uninstalling removes local rules/config.
Free trial: 7 days, no credit card required, full features. When the trial ends, TradeStop simply stops enforcing until you subscribe.
Subscription: $4.99/month, auto-renews monthly. Cancel anytime from the app/portal. You keep access until the end of the current period and won’t be charged again.
Device use: One subscription = one active Windows PC. You can move your license by signing out on the old machine and signing in on the new one.
Uninstall: The uninstaller removes the rules we added (firewall/hosts), so blocks won’t persist.
